Local Area The village of Langoelan is a 20 minute walk away or just 2 minutes by car. There is a boulangerie for your breakfast croissants and basic groceries. A pizzeria provides a very good lunchtime menu of traditional French cuisine for 10 euros including wine and an extensive range of pizzas, pasta dishes and steak in the evenings. Alternatively stroll around the lake and stop at the lakeside bar which serves drinks and snacks throughout the day and evening. The service station/bar in the village is a stones throw away from a recently opened brocante. |
In Guemene sur Scorff, a pretty little town about a 10 minute drive away you will discover the ruins of an old castle, and several fine medieval houses as well as the Queen's Bath which is being lovingly restored bit by bit! There are a number of restaurants, shops and bars as well as 2 supermarkets, banks and pharmacies. There are also doctor's and dentist's surgeries which hopefully you wont need to visit but on Thursday morning there is a small local market in the town centre. Just 15 minutes drive in the opposite direction from the centre of Langoelan is the larger town of Rostrenen which again has a number of shops, bars and restaurants. Their larger market fills the central streets on a Tuesday morning and there is also a Friday evening market in the summer. |
About 20 minutes drive away is the attractive town of Pontivy set on the banks of the River Ivy. There you can visit the Chateau du Rohan and wander around the shops along the cobbled streets and open squares The weekly market is on Monday. Pontivy has a golf-course,bowling alley and horse-riding. The nearest seaside beaches are 40 minutes away along the Lorient coastline, or alternatively you could visit Lac de Guerledan with its forested banks and man-made beaches where you can enjoy a variety of water-sports. There is another small beach at Priziac. |
