Abbaye de Bon-Repos

Abbey Bon ReposQuad Biking and Acrobranching

The Abbey of Bon-Repos  (which is now in ruins) was founded by viscount Alain III de Rohan in 1184. The legend says that after a tiring day hunting in Quénécan Forest he fell asleep. The Virgin Mary appeared in his sleep, and asked him to found an abbey in that place. Shortly afterwards an act was signed and twelve monks came from Savigny (Manche) to found the abbey. There is a small shop, brocante and restaurant on site all set on the beautiful banks of the Nantes-Brest canal.

In August there is a spectacular son et lumiere, well worth a visit should it coincide with your holiday here!

If not on Sunday mornings there is a bustling market on the opposite bank of the river and a lively cafe/restaurant for you to sit with a coffee (or a beer) whilst you watch the world go by!
